Tao Shiatsu Teacher Ethics

Pureness and strictness are two sides of the same coin. If one wishes to keep things pure then one needs to be strict with oneself.

The Tao Shiatsu Teachers Committee has strict regulations to keep Tao Shiatsu teachings pure. Because true teachings can be transmitted to students only through

teachers who themselves adhere to a pure and strict way of living.

Therefore all teachers are commited to following the regulations with determination, and to accept having to leave the International Tao Shiatsu Society whenever any of the regulations are broken.

Tao Shiatsu teacher’s regulations

  1. As Master Masunaga said, “Working as a Shiatsu teacher and/or practitioner is like a priest’s job. One’s spirit will not have any attachment to money.” And to express this spirit, all Tao Shiatsu teachers donate regularly from their Tao Shiatsu income to the Nembutsu Sangha. In addition, no teacher may use this money in any way for personal reasons.
  2. Tao Shiatsu teachers strive to assist in each student’s spiritual and physical growth and development.
  3. Tao Shiatsu teachers will not lie or deceive others in any way in order to get money for their personal use.
  4. Tao Shiatsu teachers will not lie or deceive others in any way in order to gain personal status among the students or peers.
  5. Tao Shiatsu teachers will not use students, or put students down in any way in order to keep their position as teachers.
  6. Tao Shiatsu teachers will never have any sexual relations with students by using their position as teachers.
  7. Tao Shiatsu Teachers will be responsible for their words.

 

On one hand we can say “it’s almost shameful to write” all these regulations.

Because these regulations should be followed not only by Tao Shiatsu teachers, but by all human beings. Yet we feel we have to write them down for the public in order to be as open as possible to the public with our affirmation now and forever.
